You may be considering the various suppliers you’ll need to find for your wedding day and wondering what on earth a wedding stylist does! In short, we give life to those ideas buzzing around your head; ensure the small details are considered, as well as the big ones; and free-up your headspace to enjoy the build-up and the planning process.
Still not sold? Then read on for my 7 reasons why you might need a wedding stylist, and particularly one who likes to do things sustainably!
(1) Clarity and creativity
You may have a Pinterest board bursting with ideas, but you’re not really sure how to get them from the screen to the real world. Or maybe you’re a bit overwhelmed with too much inspiration and not sure where to start or how to find a style that fits you. A wedding stylist can help you fine-tune your ideas and whip your styling into shape!
With me, it starts with a conversation (as all good stories do)! We’ll discuss you must-haves (and please-not-that-haves) and I’ll pick out the common threads to narrow down your style, or give you an injection of inspiration to get your creative thoughts buzzing.
(2) Individual and authentic
Chances are, there’ll be a wedding at your venue the week (or even the day) before, and you’ll have been to lots of friends’ weddings before your own day. A stylist will help make sure your wedding is as individual as you are.
I love a story, and I want to hear all about the ingredients that make-up your unique couple recipe! I’ll help source items that tell your tale, or create bespoke props from recycled materials. I’ll also help you find a style that is authentic, so if a tradition or a trend doesn’t feel right for you, I’ll help re-shape it into something true.
(3) We are budget-savvy
You need to know your hard-earned cash is being put to good use on your wedding day, as budgets can quickly escalate. A wedding stylist knows the best place to source props and décor to suit your style and budget.
Working with a sustainable stylist also means I’ll help you find the meaning in your style, and encourage you to focus on what you want your guests to feel. That may mean swapping out things for experiences or simplifying some areas of your day. I’ll also cheerlead for hire over buy, second-hand over new, and re-using what you already have, which will mean your budget goes further, hurrah!
(4) Our style tribe
Wedding stylists know the coolest suppliers who will fit your wedding ethos and style, so can take on the task of searching, getting quotes and all the logistical elements of bringing everyone together on your wedding day. This is particularly helpful if you are feeling overwhelmed with searching for eco-friendly suppliers within your area and budget. This is where I swoop in, with my carefully curated list of like-minded suppliers that get who you are and what your day is about.
(5) A sustainable lens
Your wedding is a chance to celebrate your life as a couple, see all your favourite people, partake in a drink or two, dance and see a blank space transformed into something incredible. But with great (party) power, comes great (sustainable) responsibility!
Gone are the days of being limited to hay bales and hessian to create an eco-ethical wedding day. Nothing about your style has to change, and I’ll be the biggest champion of your all-out quirkiness or understated cool. I know there are many demands on your creativity, time and purse-strings so I work closely with you to find thoughtful, eco-friendly alternatives that are true to your style.
(6) The gift of time
A wedding stylist gives you back the most precious of commodities – time! Time to absorb all the fun bits of wedding planning (did someone say cake tasting?) instead of being caught-up in web searches and emails; time with your best friends and closest family soaking up the excitement of getting ready on your wedding morning (let your stylist be laser-focused on making sure everything is set-up just as you imagined); and time together to revel in that unrivalled moment when you are announced as newlyweds.
My Considerate Package includes my stay all day service to make sure items are re-purposed from your ceremony to your dining space, that the candles are lit for everyone’s arrival and that the cake table looks as epic at 1am as it did at 1pm!
(7) The practical as well as the pretty
We all love transforming a space to a canvas of colours and object and flowers, it’s why we are stylists! But wedding stylists may also help with the practical elements of liaising with other suppliers such as hire companies, florists and bakers to ensure they know the timings and access routes.
With my focus on sustainability, I consider lots of other practical elements too, like the very unglamorous pack-down! When the last cork is popped and the last shape thrown on the dancefloor, I’ll make sure that all of your items are carefully cocooned so they can be re-purposed, donated or recycled.
